As people of life have rights, don’t you think that Turkey’s
too have rights? Lol. On today’s thanksgiving, how are you going to spend it?
Are you really thankful at all? To whom and to what? I give all the glory to
the almighty God. Thanksgiving is a day when many Americans gather together
with family for an afternoon of food and football, but just how far do people
travel to spend turkey day at Grandma’s house? I will spend it at grandma’s
house today.
Though many competing claims exist, the most familiar story
of the first Thanksgiving took place in Plymouth Colony, in present-day
Massachusetts, in 1621. More than 200 years later, President Abraham Lincoln
declared the final Thursday in November as a national day of thanksgiving.
Congress finally made Thanksgiving Day an official national holiday in 1941.
But on this day, most families cook with turkey mean and
turkey is the official meat for this occasion. The National Turkey Federation
estimated that 46 million turkey which is one fifth of the annual total of 235
million consumed in the United States are eaten at Thanksgiving.
America was founded on Godly principles and most of our forefathers
were very staunch believers. They believed and trusted God for a better and
great America. They passed through many obstacles at that time but they really
have a reason now to give praise to God for making this country the best on
this planet. In God we trust.
But why do we need to thank God? Because it honors God. When
we are thankful, we recognize that God exists, and we are acting on the reality
of His life as the very source and means of ours. True thankfulness recognizes
our total dependence on God and stems from realizing that everything going on
in our lives and all we have is the product of God's sovereign control,
infinite wisdom, purposes, grace, and activity. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
“Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. Deliver me from sin and Satan to serve the living God. I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”'
