29:19-20
Show me your friend and I will tell you your character. In fact,
when you walk with fools and robbers, you cannot go away when they are caught. No
matter your innocence, when you find yourself among thieves, you also will be
lynched. That is why in the longest book of the Bible, David started by talking
about bad company. He says “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with
the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of
mockers.”
To be in a relationship is to walk with someone, to stand in
a way or in agreement with someone or sit in agreement with some for a cause. This
cause can be good or bad. But let us look at how bad company can do to you. How
bad it can destroy your destiny, your family, your church and the country and neighborhood
we live in. If you can look back to the beginning of the problem you have,
someone influenced it.
Bad Devil Satan showed up to befriend Eve in the Garden of
Eden and the end is the problem we are facing now. Sampson was gifted and
anointed for exploits but a woman he befriended, brought that glory down. David
an anointed man of God, but Bathsheba’s influence brought no peace to his
family. Solomon’s many wives drove his heart away from God. Watch your
relationship.
Wise people provide wise counsel but bad company corrupt
good intentions. Some people may appear they love you but in the end, they are
in to destroy you. A man may marry you. He will tell you all that you want to
hear but not all that glitters is gold. A bad company can ruin your destiny and
send you to hell fire. But I pray, God will show you mercy in Jesus name. Please,
watch those you call friends. Jesus had twelve friends but one betrayed Him. Friends
can go and they can be replaced. Replaced all bad relationships with Godly
ones.
