Daily Quote: Fasting makes you achieve things fast - Michael Gyekye

Bible in One year: Genesis 32:13-34:31 Matthew 11:7-30 Psalm 14:1-7 Proverbs 3:19-20

This week I welcome you to our journey of 30 days of divine favor. This week we are looking at accessing divine favor through prayer and fasting. Fasting is setting yourself apart to commit yourself to prayer. It involves the study of the word of God forgoing food and pleasure as well as outside influence. Fasting and prayer is purely spiritual exercise that promotes your desires quickly.

You cannot eat all your life away; by engaging in consistent prayer and fasting you are losing the bands, chains and shackles the enemy brought over your life. Fasting builds your spiritual life and weakens the strength of the flesh. It adds flavor to our destiny and sets us on course for victory against any demonic oppression.  Fasting is not a religious observant but a spiritual exercise. Both the Old Testament and New Testament teach the value of fasting, which is abstaining from food or drink in order to focus on prayer and seeking God's will.

Moses fasted during the 40 days and 40 nights. He was on Mount Sinai receiving the law from God (Exodus 34:28). King Jehoshaphat called for a fast in all Israel when they were about to be attacked by the Moabites and Ammonites (2 Chronicles 20:3). In response to Jonah's preaching, the men of Nineveh fasted and put on sackcloth (Jonah 3:5). Also prayer and fasting was often done in times of distress or trouble. David fasted when he learned that Saul and Jonathan had been killed (2 Samuel 1:12). Nehemiah had a time of prayer and fasting upon learning that Jerusalem was still in ruins (Nehemiah 1:4). Darius, the king of Persia, fasted all night after he was forced to put Daniel in the den of lions (Daniel 6:18). These people knew the necessity of fasting and prayers.

Prayer and fasting also occurs in the New Testament. Anna "worshipped night and day, fasting and praying" at the Temple (Luke 2:37). John the Baptist taught his disciples to fast (Mark 2:18). Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights before His temptation by Satan (Matthew 4:2). The church of Antioch fasted (Acts 13:2) and sent Paul and Barnabas off on their first missionary journey (Acts 13:3). Paul and Barnabas spent time in prayer and fasting for the appointment of elders in the churches (Acts 14:23). Will continue - #15day30daysoffavor

Note this:

God loves you and wants to set you free. Jesus died for you and salvation is the gateway for divine blessings and abundance. If you are not born again, you are not free. If you want to be born again today by giving your life to Christ, or you want to renew your faith,  please pray this prayer

“Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. Deliver me from sin and Satan to serve the living God. I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”'

Prayers for Today
  1. Father, grant me the grace to fast through my destiny in Jesus name.
  2. Father, release me from any shackles, chains and any bondage through my fasting in Jesus name.
  3. Father and Esther and the Jews fasted and prevailed over Haman; let me also prevail against all my enemies in Jesus name.

Send me an email, if you prayed to give your life to Christ, God bless you.
